OSS Dynamic Validity

Set OSS credential validity in terms of weeks, months or years instead of fixed dates.

Overview

OSS Dynamic Validity lets a credential's validity period be expressed relative to the moment it is issued (e.g. "valid for 6 months") rather than as a fixed start/end date. The OSS Updater already supported dynamic validity groups since 23.03; as of 25.02 the unit of that validity can be weeks, months or years.

Available since: Version 23.03 (March 2023) — extended in Version 25.02 (June 2025)

How to Use

Prerequisites

  • OSS Updater configured and coupled to the DOMBridge
  • API v30 or later for weeks/months/years granularity

Configuration Steps

  1. Define a validity group

Create a dynamic validity group on the OSS Updater, specifying the duration unit and length:

POST /api/oss/validity-groups
{
  "unit": "months",
  "length": 6
}
  1. Assign the group to a credential

When creating or updating an OSS credential, reference the validity group instead of fixed dates.

Use Cases

  • Temporary contractor badges valid for a fixed number of weeks from first use
  • Seasonal access (e.g. yearly renewal) without having to recompute end dates manually
